One Year Post-Acquisition: A Unified Vision, Tremendous Growth, and Exciting Possibilities

It has been one year since we acquired Kuebix, and the journey has been nothing short of transformative. From integrating teams and technology to expanding our product portfolio, this milestone reflects the hard work, dedication, and shared vision of everyone involved.

This acquisition wasn’t just about combining businesses—it was about creating a stronger, more innovative organization that delivers unmatched value to our clients. As we look back on the past year, we’re proud of what we’ve accomplished and excited for what’s to come.

Seizing the Opportunity

From the start, it was clear that Kuebix brought immense potential.

As our VP of Product, Gregg Lanyard, shared: “During the due diligence process, it became evident that we had a fantastic opportunity in front of us. The product, the people, the existing client base—it was a series of exciting finds. We knew there would be challenges integrating the parts, but we also knew we had a golden opportunity to turn Kuebix around and make it a profitable business venture.”

The strengths of Kuebix—its team, technology, and client relationships—gave us the foundation to build something extraordinary.

Building Together: The Sunrise Meeting

One defining moment of this journey was The Sunrise Meeting. Held in downtown Boston, this gathering was the first opportunity for both teams to come together. Our CEO, Chris Cochran, reflected on the significance of this meeting: “Our goal was for us all to get to know each other and for us to explain why we wanted Kuebix and how we were going to build the business together. It went so well—we walked away excited about the prospects of combining the companies. We stopped the sunset and created a beautiful sunrise.”
This meeting set the tone for the collaboration and shared purpose that has driven our success over the past year.

Facing Challenges and Achieving Wins

Acquisitions come with unique challenges, and our team has worked tirelessly to address them. As our VP of Commercial Operations, Jen Domonkos, put it: “We knew coming into the acquisition that this was going to take a lot of work and that there would be challenges. However, we faced those challenges and continue to grow and evolve. We have a lot more work to do, but we have got our taste of some big wins and are eager for more to come.”
The wins over the past year—such as integrating Kuebix hybrid clients, forming the Estes partnership, and securing the Weis renewal—highlight the diverse ways we’ve been able to create value and find success. These achievements reflect our ability to capitalize on the opportunities this acquisition has created.

Tackling Challenges and Building Success

Post-acquisition, we worked quickly to address key priorities. As Gregg noted: “I was tasked with standing up the professional services team, creating processes around implementation and pricing. I worked with Jared Hurst to determine the implementation effort across different-sized projects, developed a profitable pricing model, and collaborated with Sales to ensure a Services component was included on every deal.”

These efforts have resulted in impressive growth. Kuebix revenue increased by 174% in just 11 months, and our development team improved the platform’s speed by 40%, addressing previous product challenges.

A Culture of Collaboration and Client-Centricity

One of the most rewarding aspects of this journey has been the synergy between teams. As Gregg shared: “Working with the team from Kuebix in the early days after the acquisition, it became even clearer that this group would do what it takes to ensure our clients, and our company, would be profitable. The team provided Product Management the necessary insight on high-priority, revenue-generating opportunities.”
Chris echoed this sentiment, saying: “I’m absolutely blown away by the quality of the employees we welcomed from the Kuebix acquisition. Not only do they fit FreightWise well, but they will help us take the company to the next level.”

Looking Ahead

The integration of FreightWise and Kuebix has unlocked new possibilities for growth, innovation, and client success. As our CEO put it: “There is magic in blending the two teams and tech stacks together, as we will gain more knowledge, become deeper on modes, closer to the clients, and ultimately build a superior solution for the marketplace.”
As we mark this one-year milestone, we recognize the incredible opportunities ahead. The combination of our business models allows us to offer the best value-based solutions in the industry—a true win for both our clients and our company.
Here’s to the remarkable journey we’ve had so far and the exciting opportunities still to come. Together, we’re not just meeting expectations; we’re exceeding them.
