Job Title: Sales Director
Department: Sales
Reports To: Regional Vice President
FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary: The primary responsibility of a Sales Director is to drive sales for new clientele and secure revenue.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Travel to trade shows and other marketing events to network with potential customers.*
• Travel to training and/or quarterly business reviews, when necessary.*

Job Title: Sales Director (Individual Contributor)
Department: Sales
Reports To: RVP Sales

Summary

The Sales Director is responsible for driving business growth by identifying and securing new client opportunities for FreightWise. This role focuses on proactively selling FreightWise solutions (SaaS, Services & Managed Services) to qualified prospects, with the goal of expanding our customer base and increasing revenue through strategic sales efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prospecting: Lead efforts to identify and engage potential clients through targeted outreach, including cold calling, networking, and attending industry events
  • Sales Strategy Development: Develop and execute strategies to penetrate new markets and secure multimodal, multiservice business opportunities
  • Lead Generation: Proactively generate leads through various channels, including cold outreach, LinkedIn, industry trade shows, networking events, and referrals
  • Client Engagement: Conduct in-depth research to understand prospective clients’ needs and tailor sales approaches to meet their specific requirements
  • Value Proposition Presentation: Present FreightWise’s value proposition effectively, showcasing our products and services through compelling presentations and demonstrations
  • Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain relationships with key decision-makers, including C-level executives, to understand their business challenges and position FreightWise as their solution provider
  • Negotiation and Closing: Lead negotiations with potential clients, securing mutually beneficial agreements that align with FreightWise’s strategic goals
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (operations, pricing, account management) to ensure seamless transitions from prospecting to client onboarding
  • Salesforce Management: Utilize Salesforce to track leads, manage the sales pipeline, and report on sales activities and forecasts
  • Market Intelligence: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market demands to adapt strategies and identify new business opportunities

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Proven track record in sales and business development, with a focus on the Transportation/Logistics/Supply Chain technology solutions and/or services
  • Experience working with companies in markets such as food/beverage, manufacturing, consumer goods, or wholesale/distribution is preferred
  • Strong experience in consultative sales, particularly in generating new business
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage C-level decision-makers
  • Established network of contacts within the transportation sector
  • Highly motivated, with a strong drive to meet and exceed sales targets
  • Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Proficient in Salesforce, Excel, PowerPoint, Google-suite
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively
  • Proven ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience is preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the transportation industry (TL, LTL and/or Parcel)
  • At least 3 years of Direct Sales and/or Business Development experience

Compensation:

Compensation is based on several factors including market location, job/industry-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  The compensation package includes a base salary, and the opportunity to earn variable compensation and other financial incentives/accelerators.
